Prominence of the Shrine : If the unmarried men worship here the belief is that they will get married soon. It is also famous to worship for getting a child.
Temple History: This is a Shiva Temple. There is also another temple in front of this for Muniyandi. As per the belief. Lord Shiva appeared in front of Muniyandi at this place. This temple was constructed by Kulonthunga Chola. This temple is constructed in such a way that Elephant cannot enter inside the temple. As per the historical stories Lord Shiva appeared in front of god Muniyandi in his dancing pose. As he appeared in the dancing pose he is called as Koothappar at this temple. The temple architecture is in the form of Mada Kovil. Mada Kovil means it is constructed in such a way that elephant can not enter inside the temple.
