Prominence of the shrine : Goddess Parvathi made the four Vedhas into balls and started playing with them forgetting herself. Lord Shiva who came there lit the balls. This burning balls got extinguished when they reached this shrine. Hence the name Pandanainallur. Later Goddess Parvathi took the form of a cow and sprang milk into the earthern hole. Lord Shiva who was in the hole married Goddess Parvathi. In this shrine the main idol of the Lord is in the form of an anthill. On the head of the main idol the imprint of the hoof of a cow can be seen.
Who worshiped here : Kamadhenu, Adhikesava Perumal, Kamboja King worshipped here and got his son’s blindness cured.
